A Should Be Soundtrack (Part 2)

A few months ago me & MelodyA made "A Should Be Soundtrack" to a fake horror movie. Since then I have always wanted to do it again but never could think of any good soild ideas to make one for. But a plot has been settling in my mind for a few months so I figured I would give it a go.

The idea for this movie is painfully simple & I am pretty much ripping off others. Its like a mix between Heathers & Suicide Club.
I can't think of zero way to eloquently explain this so here are just my jumbled thoughts. So basically the movie takes place in the typical suburbs mainly around this one click of outcast punk kids. The, I suppose, leader of the group is this girl who when they were in junior high was part of main popular group & then discovered punk rock. She is still a total snobby bitch, perhaps even bigger than popular kids. Punk is just a more fun & easier to raise hell with. So in still having this attitude she is in constant rivalry with her old friends who rule the school Mean Girls style. One day after an over the top prank done on the outcasts they confront the main popular girl & accidentally kill her. Like Heathers they decide to make it look like a suicide & all is fooled. Then they kill off another one of the girls & another. Until a suicide trend is actually sparked in the school & all the cool kids are (as they say) doing it.
I can think of no epic ending for this movie, or no moral thing to learn from it. Nor can I even think of a name. Maybe you guys can help me out with that. But what I did do what come up with a really bitching soundtrack.

I can think of no epic ending for this movie, or no moral thing to learn from it. Nor can I even think of a name. Maybe you guys can help me out with that. But what I did do what come up with a really bitching soundtrack.

Black Flag - Nervous Breakdown
Zombina & The Skeletones - Villian
Refused - New Noise
Schoolyard Heroes - Plastic Surgery Hall Of Fame
Bomb The Music Industry! - 5 Funerals
Misfits - Where Eagles Dare
Richard Hell & The Viodoids - Blank Generation

Circle Jerks - Live Fast Die Young
T.S.O.L. - World War III
Bad Brains - Pay To Cum
Adolescents - Creatures

I'd love to hear it.

Let's Do It

Alex told me to do this so here I go.

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, the benefit of revolutions, sex, drugs, rock n' roll, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

So C'mon! Hit me with your best shot!

One For The Witches : A Mix

One of the main reasons I started making mixes was because I really love introducing people to new music. There is just something really gratifying of being responsible for someone’s favorite band when knowing with out you they would have never even heard of them. I am not saying I have superior musical taste than anyone (though I do), but I am just good at finding interesting things. & when I find them I like to share them with people because I think everyone has the right to enjoy good music.

Recently, I haven’t made anyone a particularly music centered mix. In high school I used to give my friend Johanna a mix every month of stuff I was really into & thought she would love. But more recently I have been going down a more lyrically based road. I still only use songs that I really like (excluding my Jersey mix), but its more of what they say than the sounds.

As most people know who frequent my page, I am absolutely obsessed with a little band called World/Inferno Friendship Society. The best term I can possibly think of to describe them is “circus punk”. I am not even sure if that is a real musical term. But if we are splitting hairs here, the closest actual musical genres to it are gypsy punk (Gogol Bordello) & cabaret punk/dark cabaret (the Dresden Dolls). After listening quite a bit to aforementioned artists I wanted to find similar things, which led me to making this mix.

The best way to put it, is that this is a gypsy/cabaret themed mix. There is a handful of folk punk on here that I felt really connected musically with the theme. But its less punk & more Balkan beats & cabaret keyboards here. I believe that a lot of this stuff is truly extraordinary & I wanted to share it with all of you in hopes that you lot feel the same way.

I am honestly not expecting a lot of you to like this but I thought it would give it a shot anyway.

  1. Beirut - Guyamas Sonora
  2. Besh O Drom – Tortapapir
  3. Gogol Bordello - Harem In Tuscany

  6. The Tiger Lillies – Bully Boys
  7. Les Cowboys Fringants – Awikatchikaen

I really hope someone enjoys this. I was up all night trying to finish this, its 7:30 now. I have zero intentions of sleeping today & my hair looks like such a mess its can probably pass as fashionable.

I wish I had a cigarette & some coffee.

Auditory Blessings,

Shannon

(PS - Everything should be in order in the download but I accidentally left Guyamas Sonora so its probably the last track instead of the second. & I say second because I put a nice little opening present there for you called I Was Stolen By The Gypsies)

I DEMAND AN EXPLANATION FOR THIS BULLSHIT

Dear Buzznet,

WHAT.THE.FUCK.

Please explain to me why this is featured material. Please, Buzznet staff members lay unto me your Godly fucking wisdom as to why this 30 second piece of trash is worthy of a fucking ad.

I was born & raised in New York City. I take the subway home all the fucking time. This is not creepy, weird or strange. Its fucking annoying. Oh wow, you have a star drawn on your face & a camera & a girl with pink hair & a gay guy are with you! You are so edgy, watch out! You might creep out the native New Yorkers!

SIT THE FUCK DOWN.

This isn’t an odd site on NYC transit. I’ve been on trains where they had to stop because junior high school kids started full on brawling & all everyone did was move to the next car. I’ve seen homeless men piss themselves. I have been yelled at by crackheads how I was going to kill my husband & must be stopped. & none of that isn’t even that strange to me.

If I had wanted this on my page, I would have put it on my page in the first place. Don't force this trash down my throat, as it already is quite enough.

Stop Buzznet. Fucking stop.

xoxo

What Madness! Another Journal Tag!

Tagged by georgiadeath!

1. If you could say anything to the person who has hurt you most in life what would you say?

Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father prepare to die.

2. When will your next kiss be?
Never plan kisses. They aren't as fun that way.

3. What song are you listening to?
.    A Stare Like Yours by the Thermals

4. Who does it remind you of?

I rather not think of who it reminds me of at the moment.

5. Last movie you watched? with who?
Probably something with John Waters with Vitaly.

6. Which of your friends lives closest to you?

I would say JBK because technically her house is a few blocks away but she goes to school in Philly. After that it would be Lemarr but he goes to school upstate. So I guess Helena, ever though we dont talk much..

7. What CD is in your stereo?

   Probably a mix.

8. Has a friendship ended recently that you wish hadn't?
Sorta. We kinda patched things up, but its not the same.

9 & 10 where are you?

11. What are you most looking forward to?

Nothing off the top of my head, though I am sure there are tons that I should be for.

12. What are your nicknames?
Sha-nana, Rev, & last night they started calling me Malice.

13. Describe your dream life:

Doing something I absolutely love & making good money for it while living in a giant loft in Brooklyn or somewhere where its always warm by the beach with a gay man in a rock band. Falling in love with someone who makes me mixes would also be boss.

14. Where would you like to live?
     Somewhere warm.

15. Last time you spent the night at someone's house?
Jean’s after seeing Man Man, which was forever ago. Most people stay here because my mom usually passes out early & can sleep like a rock so we can pretty much do whatever. Not to mention it’s a pretty decent size & there is always alcohol.

16. When was the last time you were extremely disappointed?
Last night. When I traveled 2 hours in a car to Connecticut, was forced to listen to Blink 183 & music from Zelda against my will only to show up at a party where most of the alcohol was gone.

TOP TEN THINGS ABOUT YOU
1. Are you single?   Yepp.
2. Are you happy?  I have my moments.
3. Are you bored? I just woke up so not yet.
5. Are you Italian? Like a quarter.
6. Are you pregnant? Only if the hand of God has decided to touch me.
8. Are you cool? Damn straight.
9. Are you Irish? 1/16th
10. Are your parents still married? Not since I was four.

TEN LASTS:

1. Last phone call you made: I called Vitaly to tell him I left my squash in the back of Christian’s car & to hold on to it for me til the next time I saw him, which he didn’t sound thrilled about. But that might have just been because earlier I threatened to kill him with 4 inch heels when he drank all the alcohol we brought.
2. Last phone call you received: Alex, it was a missed call. I was supposed to tell her where the party was & totally slipped on it.
3. Last person/people you hung out with? I was at a party last night but I mostly chilled with Chris, Christian, & Katie. We were the social lepers of the party.
5. Last person you tackled?: Probably someone at Bowery 2 weeks ago.
6. Last person you IM'd:  Melody.
7. Last text message you received: “I GOT 99 PROBLEMS BUT A BITCH AIN’T ONE”

9. Last person you hated?:  Vitaly, see above.
10. Last person you laughed with?: Katie & Chris. Something about furries & Bob Dylan, you wouldn’t understand.

It was not made clear how many people I need to tag so I will just do whatever.

True Romance : A Valentine's Day Mix

Here’s the deal.  I could have strung together a bunch of random love songs that I thought were cute & sweet, but I didn’t. I could have made something bitter & whiney about how much love sucks & we are all going to die alone, but I didn’t. I could have done something witty & clever, but I didn’t.

Instead I made this. I made something real & from the heart. It took me a lot of time & drove me absolutely crazy but I am satisfied with the end result. I doubt I will give this to the person it was indented for, but I figured I would share it with my Buz-Buddies.

The Donnas – Hey, I’m Gonna Be Your Girl
“Hey, pretty boy, what's your name? You're just making me go insane. I see you sitting there--don't know what to do, 'Cause I just wanna French kiss you”

Alklaine Trio – Blue Carolina
“The night is aging as the sun warms your face, Won't you turn around and stay for good, the air is getting much too cold. I am nervous and anxious, it really counts this time. And you know all my favorite singers have stolen all of my best lines.”

World/Inferno Friendship Society – Only Anarchists Are Pretty
“When we were young, you were the best thing going, And I struggled mightily to keep my hands to myself. Watching you strut down the street telling everyone to go to hell. With a flash of the ankle, snarl of the lip, I see you in the street and gasp. A lot of gossip and glances, I’d had enough. I grasped you gently by your arm and said, “Hey, I got a crush”. You caught both my eyes and you gave me a push. You said, “Hey, you got one back”, And the room caved in”

Ryan Adams – Wonderwall
“And all the roads we have to walk are winding, And all the lights that lead us there are blinding. There are many things that I would, Like to say to you, But I don't know how. Because maybe, You're gonna be the one that saves me” *Sorry, Oasis, you suck compared to this.

Joan Jett & Paul Westerberg – Lets Do It
The chimpanzees in the zoos do it, Some courageous kangaroos do it .Let's do it, let's fall in love”

Sahara Hotnights – With or Without Control
“And this is getting weird, You went straight to my head, Moving in circles, Spinning and sparkle. Boy, you're really messing up my mind”

Head Automatica – Beating Hearts baby
"Baby is this love for real? Let me in your arms to feel, the beating of your heart baby. Girl...You really got your hold on me. ”

Metric – Combat Baby
“No one here wants to fight me like you do. Combat baby come back baby, Fight off the lethargy, Don't go quietly, Combat baby, Said you would never give up easy, Combat baby come back”

Toadies – Possum Kingdom
*I’m not even going ot lie, the only reason this song is on this mix is because the chorus is “I Will treat you well, my sweet angel, so help me Jesus” & then out of nowhere he just shouts “DO YOU WANNA DIE” for like 30 seconds straight. Amazing.

Sleater-Kinney – I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone
“I wanna be your Thurston Moore, Wrestle on the bedroom floor, always leave me wanting more, throw away those old records. We go downtown, put on our best frowns. Give me a chance, I know I can dance”

The Subways – Oh Yeah
It's your eyes that make me smile, oh yeah oh yeah. Wasting time, hanging out, oh yeah oh yeah. These teenage years, no they don't last, oh yeah oh yeah. These teenage lips, they speak too fast, oh yeah oh yeah

The Distillers – Love Is Paranoid
“For what you do to me, oh, baby, there's no measure. I've taken everything, now I want to give it, I left the lights on so you stumble in devotion, So easy, so easy, it's left unspoken… I’ve come to realize you’re the only thing I want”

The Clash – Should I Stay Or Should I Go Now?
“Darling you got to let me know. Should I stay or should I go? If you say that you are mine, I’ll be here ’til the end of time. So you got to let me know, Should I stay or should I go?”

The Cars – Just What I Needed
“I don't mind you comin' here and wastin' all my time time  'cause when you're standin' oh so near, I kinda lose my mind, yeah”ß Best Love Song Ever

Misfits – Hybrid Moments
“If you're gonna scream, Scream with me. Moments like this never last” *Sure they talk about demon’s raping faces, but how else would Danzig show love? Plus, it was between this & Helena. I think this is better than cutting off a person’s limbs to find out if they love you or not

The Epoxies – It’s You
“My heart is beating harder than before. I thought my life had so much more. One kiss and it's over, But not the way you think. You're nothing but smiles, I'm sipping my last drink. It's you, I'm waiting for, It's you I never bargained for”

Weezer – EL Scorcho
“How stupid is it? I can't talk about it, I gotta sing about it and make a record of my heart. How stupid is it? Won't you give me a minute. Just come up to me and say hello to my heart. How stupid is it? For all I know you want me too. And maybe you just don't know what to do. Or maybe you're scared to say: "I'm falling for you"”

The Thermals – A Stare Like Yours
You open your eyes and stare into mine. A stare like yours is hard to find, its ultraviolet. You close your eyes and breathe, I feel your lips, you hit the switch”

This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb – Imperfection
“I'm in love with imperfection, some how i know that you are too. that's how I know you wont be offended when i tell you that's the reason I'm in love with you.”

Be Your Own Pet – Extra Extra
“Im gonna hate you love you hate you, love you hate you love you hate you. Shut up before I kiss you, So shut before I kiss you and hug you and kick you and hug you and kick you”

Interpol – Slow Hands
“I submit my incentive is romance, I watched the pole dance of the stars. We rejoice because the hurting is so painless, From the distance of passing cars, But I am married to your charms & grace. I just go crazy like the good old days. You make me want to pick up a guitar, And celebrate the myriad ways that I love you. Can you see what you've done to my heart and soul? This is a wasteland now”

The Magnetic Fields – I’m Sorry That I Love You
“Well I'm sorry that I love you. It's a phase that I'm going through. There is nothing that I can do and I'm sorry that I love you. Do not listen to my song. Don't remember it, don't sing along. Let's pretend it's a work of art. Let's pretend it's not my heart...”

The Detroit Cobras – Out Of This World
“….You really got something that is out of this world”

I am not asking for opinions on what to put on it, so please don't give them. I wanted something happy & kinda punky that just didn't scream "ZOMG MARRY ME" because thats creepy & tried to stay away from gender specific songs. Other wise Punk Rock Girl by the Dead Milkmen would have been on this in a second.

Enjoy my lovelys!<----download

Two Nights At the Opera: World/Inferno Frienship Society

I know I have a wide range of notes & comments to get back to, but hold on kids, my brain is not functioning at the moment, for I took a human torso to my skull. There will also be no recap of my week this week because comparing last night to everything else just makes it irrelevant & unimportant.

Oh & I also broke my camera last night, so I might not be big on updates for a while.

Now I am sure you are wondering what the hell could I have done that has left me with a broken camera & would have caused a torso to collide with my cranium. Its simple really. World/Inferno Friendship Society.

Like I said, my brain isn’t working at full speed at the moment so I will say what I can.  There was lots of rain. I am an idiot for not checking the weather before hand & bringing an umbrella, but this girl I met at the last WIFS show gave me this terrifying jacket that looks like a skinned grizzly bear so I wore that under my hoodie & didn’t’e know I was getting wet at all. That was til I met Xeets on Canal & it was absolutely pouring. We got some cheap food, cheap umbrellas (ellas ellas) that broke before we even got to Bowery & then were  told they wouldn’t be letting us in til 8. We got there at like 6:50, so we walked around the block & stood underneath this awning that no doubt made me look like a prostitute & Xeets my pimp.

At around 7:40 we headed back over & people started gathering up. It was kinda werid because we were not only clearly the oldest kids there but the only ones who didn’t know anyone else. But when we got in I ran into some girls (Robyn, Sara, Sarah, & Neecole) from the last show & we chilled with them the whole time.  They were really awesome, I got Robyn’s number to meet up at the next show in Jeresy. Also we talked a lot about shaking baby syndrome. It solves all problems.

The first band was just a noise band & okay. The second band was the most confusing group of grown ass men I have ever seen in one place. It was like this really fat bald white dude, a geeky guy with a black flag shirt,  an orgcore punker, this guy who was clinging on really hard that he got kicked out of Areosmith before they hit big,  &  a man with a confederate flag button up shirt. I freaked for a good 10 minutes. Just like “LOOK AT HIM THAT’S IS AMAZING! WHY IS HE DOING THAT!?!?”. There was this moment before the show were me & Sarah were talkign about how they were either going to be really amazing or really terrible, & not even half way through the first song we were just like "terrible". The singer was just going crazy with water & there were electrical outlets open & I just knew I was going to die. I also got this great photo of him screaming over an amp & Robyn just looking so confused at him. After that was Gut Bucket or something & they were absolutely amazing. Like I can’t even describe them, though Xeets was saying they were like James Chance and the Contortionists. Seriously check them out.

Minutes before World/Inferno went on everything just went crazy.  The entire set was nothing but madness wrapped in awesome. I was right in the front so when the crowd surfers started coming ever 3 seconds they were hitting me. There were a few that I was just like “No” & just straight up moved out of the way to let them fall.  For the first half of the set I was with Robyn. We sustained some pretty good injuries (boots to the face, torsos to skulls, ect) We also waltzed in a circle pit.

Robyn“Lets go into the Waltz Circle”
Me“I don’t think that’s for Waltzing”
Robyn“Nonsesne its just really angry”

Eventually it got to be too much & we had to head out for a song when we took a double whammy from two kids who jumped off the stage at the same time. This is also when I realized I lost my camera. I also lost my belt at the last show so I probably just shouldn’t bring anything at all to their shows anymore.

Things get kinda shaky after that. I went back in without Robyn, got hit by a few more people until I noticed some how Xeets was protecting me & I told him that I was fine & I went back to be thrown around like a rag doll. It was so sweet. A lot pf people don’t get mosh pits & I totally understand why. It does seem pretty masochistic about getting the shit beaten out of you for a band. But the thing is, when youa re in there, pressed up against all those people, singing all the same words & going crazy, you realize you are all there for  the same reason & you are all a part of something greater than just you alone. Not to mention there is something about a Doc Martin to the face that just makes you feel so alive.

After a hour & a half set, 2 encores & a possible concussion I set out to find my broken camera & fallen comrades. Oddly enough Vitaly found me rater quickly without me even noticing, Aperantly during the set he staged dived to try & find me as well, but he was on the left side & me the right. But he found some snazzy suspenders & I found my camera, amazingly not in a thousand pieces, but it still won’t turn on. Its missing a piece that looks seemingly unimportant, but the bouncers wouldn’t let me stay to find it. It took us a good 20 minutes just to get downstairs & the line for coat check was about 8 miles long, so Xeets staye don it while I stayed with Robyn & Sara in this little hall near the merch table exchanging war scars. The side of Robyn’s face was swelling up pretty good & amazing mine wasn’t. I ran into a few more people (including Chris who for some reason I was very excited to see & I still can’t figure out why. Same goes with Vitaly. I nearly kissed both of them. I blame this on head trama). Then I found a booth to sit in when they had to leave, got some free water, was offered donuts by Chris that he found in a bag in a dumpster (I actually took a bite out of one) & sat with Vitaly for a while. From the whole end of the set tilt e time we left took over an hour, it was really nice to sit down & relax somewhere where I could dry off, but I couldn’t close my legs. We stood outside for a while with Chris, Vitaly & Katie where Vitaly was doing this ridiculous thing alternating between a cigarette & lollipop & I just wanted to smack him. He tries to be cool, which I suppose is okay around his other friends but I’ve known him forever & “cool” is not a word I associate with him.

On the train we ran into the kid whose torso nearly killed me. He liked Morrissey, didn’t see that one coming.

 __________

Also since I never wrote up about the Asbury Park show here is a brief recap (though I think the only one who wanted to read it was Seb)

I got a call from Vitaly at like 2pm asking me if I wanted to go, he said he’d be there at like 4 I think, he didn’t get there til about 8 & then we were just stuck in traffic in the city for another hour with Chris, Katie & MT. When we got to New Jersey I said “When I die they are going to bury me in Jersey” which is a line from a WIFS song & Chris when “hell I just know it man” which is the next line & I freaked because no one ever gets it when I do WIFS references besides Xeets & sometimes Alex. We got lost about 20 times, once we went down this road with absolutely nothing on it & eventually came to “Road Ends Here” & “No Trespassing” signs & it was all gated up & creepy & just full of terrifying thoughts of death. We stopped at 2 different places for directions, one of which was a diner where we were told that Asbury Park was a bad area & we should make sure to lock out doors. We found the Stone Pony by pure chance & got in about 5 minutes before they started up. For some reason there is a random ass wooden poll in the middle of this place & I got stuck against it for like 2 songs. Pure hell. Some how or another me & Vitaly randomly found each other then spent the rest of the set with his arm around my waist or holding my hand ect & I would be a liar if I said I didn’t like it so I will just stop talking about that now. Everything was amazing til two circle pits managed to form around us & I was pretty  much done. We left before the Bouncing Souls went on which I seriously regret, met Robyn & her friend Kayla I think we had a car & we went to a diner that took us forever to get to because whoever built the roads & such in New Jersey was a fucking idiot. I also met Neecole & Sara there, but not Sarah. It was all great & I remember something about fired mushrooms & Robyn singing Souja Boy like an old woman. They took us back to this hotel party which I felt really awkward at because I am terrible at parties. There was this really fat kid who was so overly intoxicated who kept hitting on me who then pissed himself & passed out. We all took pictures with him knocked out. Then he threw up & the party was all over. The ride home was quiet & nice while we listened to WIFS the whole way home & we caught up on each others lives. I got home at 5 am & couldn’t sleep til 5pm.

All I can say is that me & the mad monkettes have zero regrets & there is no way I am forgetting any of it. It shows in my crooked ass glasses.

sorry about any typos, i am too lazy to re read & edit.

EDIT: So for anyone who doesn't know who WIFS &  I hav uploaded theit latest album Addicted to Bad Ideas for you. Enjoy!

Death & The Summer Of Love

& when the summer comes, I want you to take me down to Astro Land.
Where we can ride the Wonder Wheel & fall in love & smoke blunts,
Amongst the snakes & the cunts,
Reading shitty poetry at the tops of our lungs.

"Let Go" I can already hear you whispering
As the craddle crashes quickly to the ground below.

Merry Christmas, Asshole : A Mixtape

With the holiday’s right around the corner, I feel like I should be giving something to my fellow buzzneters besides terrifying Shenanigans photos. I know some of us our sending cards to one another, but I am broke & lazy. So in the spirit of the holiday season, I have made you all this Christmas Mix, to listen to & enjoy while trying to ignore those awkward drunken arguments your Uncle & your Dad always get into.

The 4 Skins – Merry Christmas (Things always start off merry, but you’ll be miserable in the end)
My Chemical Romance – All I Want For Christmas Is You (While you are begging your girlfriend to come home, she is fucking a guy who just gave her diamonds for Christmas not a shitty song)
Ben Folds – Bizarre Christmas Incident (The image of the fat, naked, greased up corpse of Santa will never leave my brain)
Stand Still – I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus (Finding out your father is a queer is the best gift ever)
Everclear – I Will Be Hating You For Christmas (Drink more, it solves everything)
Dance Hall Crashers – I Did It For The Toys (Fucking Santa for toys? I’ve done worse)
The Pouges – Fairytale of New York (Merry Christmas, I hate you)
Tenacious D – Things I Want (May I ask who doesn’t want to party naked on a school bus full of nuns?)
No Doubt – Oi! To The World (Haji? Like the kid from Johnny Quest?)
Whirling Dervishes – You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch
The Sonics – Don’t Believe In Christmas (Just because you were a douche when you were younger & your parents didn’t spoil you doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t enjoy ourselves)
The Bouncing Souls & Weston – Do They Know Its Christmas? (No)
Rufus Wainwright - Spotlight On Christmas (Can’t we just take all the horses & toys from the poor little rich boys?
The Ramones – Merry Christmas, I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight (C’mon Joey! Nothing Says Merry Christmas like a black eye)
The Vandals – Grandpa’s Last Christmas (Best. Song. Ever)
The Kinks – Father Christmas (It appears someone has taken the advice I gave Rufus Wainwright)
Zombina & The Skeletones – Chainsaw for Christmas (Some how this helps the world)
Snopp Dogg – Santa Goes Straight To the Ghetto (Where else is he going to get a 50" Flat Screen Plasma TV? The Elves don’t fucking make those)
The Damned – There Ain’t So Santa Claus (This is the song I will play for my children when the time comes)
Zebrahead – Deck the Halls (I got a rock! Also its too fucking cold for this shit)
The AKA’s – Christmas In Hollis (When I downloaded this it said it was Run DMC, it was not & I was too lazy to looking for it)
Mojo Nixon – Christmas Christmas (Your mom was sucking on your toes? That is not marry Christmas!)

 BONUS TRACK BITCHES
Atom & his Package – What We Do On Christmas (I am actually Jewish)

 Download this now!

Happy Shenanigans Everyone!

Songs To Aid An Existential Crisis

I find that lately that I am terrible with words & every time I want to say something important, or anything really at all, I cannot. I spend a good time toiling over blank pages & Word Documents only to give up to watch another episode of The Young Ones or knit. The only way I find that I can convey things I want to say is in mixes of strategically placed songs. I feel like I should be in High Fidelity.

This is a mix I had a lot of trouble with. There are a lot of things I want to say & its hard to find just the right the songs for it. Its even harder to describe. In my best (&not even completely my own) words this is my “The world sucks and the only option is to overthrow the blood-sucking imperialists through a revolution. And yet all I can think about is my own miserable existence and that if I can’t fix that how can I fix the world?” mix. It is separated into two sides, the first being the miserable existence part & the second is the fixing yourself so you can fix the world part.

For the most part I think this list is really self explanatory & I don’t need to explain any of it, but there is one part I want to anyway. Which is the use of both versions of “Wicked Little Town” from the Hedwig & the Angry Inch Soundtrack. I feel like that including both makes the mix a complete circle. In the first version, sung by Hedwig, embodies the loneliness & frustration of being stuck somewhere where one feels they have little chance of escaping. The second, sung by Hedwig’s love & frustration, Tommy Gnosis at a very defining point in the movie, but that is irrelevant. What is more important is that although he does acknowledge being stuck in a “wicked little town”, that maybe that we should stop being concerned where we are stuck & what can happen from her & realize that change is more up to us than the heavens.

Since Madison is dedicating songs to folks, I am going to dedicate this mix.

To Alex, Hope you are better & back soon.

SIDE A

Hedwig & the Angry Inch – Wicked Little Town
The Smiths – Still Ill
The Bravery – Unconditional
Rilo Kiley – The Good That Won’t Come Out of Us
Pulp – Razzamatazz
Don McCloskey – Mr. Novocaine
Giant Drag – Wicked Game
Feist – How Can I Start Once That I’ve Started
Shudder To Think – Ballad Of Maxwell Demon
Girl In A Come – Road To Home

SIDE B

Murder By Death – Boy Decide
Gogol Bordello – Illuminations
Nellie McKay – Change the World
Oasis – The Masterplan
My Chemical Romance – Sleep
The Shins – Young Pilgrims

Regina Spektor – Ghost of Corporate Future
Man Man – Van Helsing’s Boombox
World/Inferno Friendship Society – Please My Favorite Don’t Be Sad
Tommy Gnosis – Wicked Little Town

There's nothing you can find, that can not be found.

This Kittens Got Claws: Songs to Rip Out A Bitch's Weave To

Another mix from the vault i have decided to revamp a bit. This one is for the ladies.. All of us of the female persuasion have felt that twinge of jealousy, the need to gossip, the urge to vomit at someone’s makeup, & the undeniable feeling of superiority of looking better than someone else in a similar jacket. Whether she stole your boyfriend or she stole your style there is some bitch out there whose eyes you’d love to scratch out. Every once in a while it is necessary to release that beast known as bitch on to others. & its okay, she may be a slut, but you look better in those pumps.

Blondie - Rip Her To Shreads
Lunachicks - Less Teeth, More Tits
The Donnas - Get Rid Of That Girl
Jesus H. Christ And The Four Hornsmen Of The Apocalypse - Vampire Girls
Sneaker Pimps - Post-Modern Sleaze
Electrocute - Tales Of Ordinary Sadness
Porcelain And The Tramps - My Leftovers
Curve - Chinese Burn
Hole - Retard Girl
Bratmobile - Flavor of The Month Club
Midnight Creeps - Menstrual Institution
The Slits - Typical Girls
theSTART - Dead End Queen
Bikini Kill - Lil Red
Paramore - Misery Buisness
Garbage - Stupid Girl
The Gossip - Cat Fight
Amy Winehouse - Fuck Me Pumps
Bree Sharp - A Cheap & Evil Girl
Dance Hall Crashers - Do You Think Your Beautiful?
Pink - Stupid Girls
The Soviettes - Gossip@whogivesashit.Com
Dirty Sanchez - Fucking On The Dance Floor

question? complaints? sugestions?

i am also working on a crime mix which should be up by the end of the week. any suggestions for that?

Epic Fail Of The Week: The Running Free

In high school I dated a guy who was really into Coheed & Cambria. He would often try to explain to me the epic storyline that the band's albums followed. I would normally spend this time wondering if dating him because he had a car was really worth it. It is now that I wish that i paid attention during those moments because maybe then i would know what the fuck is going on in this video.

I have no fucking clue whats going on here. Their singer has offically turned into a lion & he is in one of those pod things from the Matrix. The band is in some relam where they are trapped in a hospital & a giesha with razor blade nails is stalking them while they have flashbacks of mom's shitty home made movies. & look! someone figured out how to make images turn different colors! "Dude! I can make everything on the screen turn red when you say we're all in hell! Sweet!".

I can't imagine this making sense to anyone who isn't on drugs.

Satan Has a Big Ass Like Liza Minelli: A Mixtape

Keeping up with the Halloween spirit I decide to post another horror themed mix. This time its for The Devil. It is after all the Dark Lord's birthday, some recognition is needed. Hes been taking a back seat to costumes & candy all these years when was the last time someone baked him a cake? So this year, forget trick or treating. Go down to the cemetery with your local goth kids & slaughter a goat or two in the name of Lucifer.

*The real trick of this mix was not putting metal on. It would have been to easy then. Sorry, Danzig. Maybe next year.

Skip James - Devil Got My Woman (Obligatory Blues Song)

Jack Off Jill – Devil With A Black Dress On (“Kids sure like the Devil these days”, I blame Marilyn Manson)

The Stone Roses – Driving South (With is Satan always waiting on lonesome roads for people in the south? Christ I will never pick up a hitchhiker wearing black in Georgia)

Cake – Satan Is My Motor (He may be nice on the outside, but he really just wants to get in your pants)

Morrissey – Satan Reject My Soul (Morrissey is even to big of a whiney douche bag for Satan)

Nick Cave – Up Jumped The Devil (That boy has got the devil in him, he does)

Murder By Death – Devil In Mexico (Well according to South Park, Mexico is hell)

Bob Dylan – Man In A Long Black Coat (Who asks people with a face like a mask to dance? That is just poor judgment)

Hill Of Beans – Satan Lend Me A Dollar (True Story: I was singing this song one day while cleaning my desk off & found a dollar. Still sitting on my desk, I refuse to use it)

The B-52’s – Devil In My Car (Satan is a backseat driver)

Bobby Conn – United Nations (One Nation, Under Satan, with liberty & justice for all)

The Flaming Lips – Lucifer Rising (I have visions of Wayne Coyne dancing with imps in a field of confetti while I sleep)

Beck – Satan Gave Me A Taco (The Devil is a poor chef)

The Rolling Stones – Sympathy For The Devil (Its so hard being so evil)

Alkaline Trio – Hell Yes (I am a miserable lonely fuck, but the Devil approves)

World/Inferno Friendship Society – The Devil’s Ball (WIFS are on every mix I make, deal with it)

Foetus – Satan’s Place (PARRR-TAYYYY!)

Slim Cessna's Auto Club – Last Song About Satan (That’s what you said about the last four, yet you keep writing them)

Primus – Devil Went Down To Georgia (Shove that gold fiddle up your ass, Charles Daniel’s Band)

Steven Lynch – Beelz (What an cool dude)

My 25 Favorite Songs

Another game that i have been tagged at (By anapinkf this time).

This list was kinda werid to make. To be perfectly honest, this list can be made up entirely of World/Inferno Friendship Society, The Smiths & My Chemical Romance. But i limitied my self to a song per artist. It was also hard to narrow i down to 25. There are a handful of songs that just missed & really for no reason. I can't really explain what makes me love some of these songs as much as i do, but the ones i can i will. Anyway, here it goes, in no particular order....

Black Flag – Neverous Breakdown

Modern Life Is War – D.E.A.D.R.A.M.O.M.E.S.
*"We're not pretty & we'e not rich. We're gonna hafta fuckign work for it. its our life, we do wht we choose. Black Jeans, Black shirts, Black Shoes. Mom & dad still don't approve"-I identify with this song aside from the black.

My Chemical Romance – Our Lady Of Sorrows

The Cranberries – Zombie
*When i was younger me & the kids in ym building used to play 'rock band' & i was always the drummer. It wasn't that they pushed me to the back, I jsut really always wanted to be a drummer when i was a kid. But when this song came out i had to be thie singer & i would bust a lip or two to do it. Afterwards i would kindly go back to being a drumer for Third Eye Blind or whatever te kids were listening to those days. In my senior year of high school i actualyl did get to be the singer for this song when me & my half assed band played it at an assembly.

The Smiths – Bigmouth Strikes Again
*This is one of the first Smiths songs i ever got into. Its probably the Morrissey Moan that makes me love it so.

The Beatles – I Saw Her Standing There

The Donnas – Get Rid Of That Girl
*There is something about songs about killing the boy you likes girlfriend that really hits home for me.

Pixies –Velouria
*Frank Black's voice makes me hot, even if he is not.

Bob Dylan – Don’t Think Twice, its Alright

Alkaline Trio – Crawl
*The lyrics "never ran away for the sake of scars" was my personal motto for about two years. This song is just so fucking depressing & fit in perfectly with the period of my life i started listening to it (what are the best times to listen to Alkaline Trio? When you are drinking heavily in a pit of despair)

The B-52’s – Love Shack
*So when i was younger i used to always watch this video my mother had of all these B-52 videos. My favorite by far was Love Shack (also "monster in my pants", but my parents weren't going to talk about that to a 5 year old). To this day i can only listen to it blasting (preferable in a car) & everyone needs to shut up when they shout "TIN ROOF....RUSTED" or else i get pissed.

Bad Brains – At The Movies

Hole – Plump

Bikini Kill – Suck My Left One

Janis Joplin – Take Another Piece Of My Heart
*Someone once told me i look & sing like Janis Jopin (& then dubbed me the nickname JJ). hopefully i don't share most of her other traits or i won't be seeing 28.

The Ramones – She’s the One

David Bowie – Life On Mars

The Misfits – Hybrid Moments

Toadies – Possum Kingdom
*There is no better way to tell someone that you love them than by shouting "DO YOU WANT TO DIE" at them for nearly a minute straight

World/Inferno Friendship Society – All the World Is A Stage Dive
I just figured out realitivly recently, they talk alot about clowns in this song. Anyway, its painfully catchy & it always puts me in a good mood when i hear it.

Ted Leo & the Pharmacists - Biomusicology

Gogol Bordello – 60 Revolutions

Bright Eyes – The Calendar Hung Itself

Sublime – Santeria

Otis Redding – Try A Little Tenderness

if i can think of anythign later, i will come back & write it for other songs. i will also tag people eventually.

Dear Jersey, Fucking Sink: A Mixtape

over the years i have grown a very love/hate relationship with the Garden State. Actually its mostly hate. I have never met someone from Jersey who wasn't fucking insane or a drug addict. I have gotten lost every time i go there. You may have given us the Misfits, but you also spawned Gabe Saporta & i will never forgive that. I hate you New Jersey, take this awful mix tape & sink into the ocean.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Belle & Sebastian - Dialogue: Jersey's Where It's At (What?! No.)

x-Cops - Welcome to New Jersey (The Jets are great & all, but are you always assaulted by people posing as police officers when you cross the state line?)

World/Inferno Friendship Society - My Ancestral Homeland, New Jersey (I don't still have to live in Jersey to know everybody is still drinking & fucking)

Less Than Jake - Never Going Back To Jersey (Yes, i used to live there. Can we not talk about it)

The Bouncing Souls - So Jersey (Jersey: Only The Strong Survive)

Marc Ribot Y los Cubanos Postizos - Las Lomas De New Jersey (I agree with nothing in this song but the monotonous voice talking over the spanish singing wins so hard)

Thursday – Dying in New Brunswick (To be perfectly honest with you guys, I didn’t even bother looking up the lyrics to this song. This made the list at like 3 in the morning when I couldn’t sleep & I over overly hot & tired of hearing shitty songs about Jersey. So it was just like ‘Oh Thursday! They are from Jersey, this is probably about Jersey. I think I like Thursday, they go on this’)

Bigwig – Alone in Jersey (If I wanted to hear about growing up in Jersey & how hard you worked I would have but Springsteen on this mix, so shut the fuck up)

The June Spirit – Jersey In My Rearview (I don’t really like this song & they only mention Jersey one but I just don’t care)

Nerf Herder – New Jersey Girl (Your hair is so fucked up & huge, I love you)

Ella Fitzgerald – Jersey Bounce

ASS – Hoboken Sucks (The only reason this is on the mix is because all this song it is Rise Above, but instead of shouting the original title over & over again, they shout Hoboken sucks. I still really can’t process this)

Streetlight Manifesto - Keasby Nights (This place is apparently in Jersey!!)

Seamus Kennedy – God Is From New Jersey (If God gets so pissed when you make fun of Jersey why haven’t I been smited yet?)

Lifetime - Theme Song For A New Brunswick (Xeets likes to talk about going to basement shows in Jersey, so this one is for you)

G. Love – Can’t Go Back To Jersey (Baby, please don’t kick me out. I am not moving all my shit back to Jersey)

The Ramones - Palisades Park (I fell in love in an amusement park in New Jersey. I was so high)

John Pizzarelli – I Like Jersey Best (I won’t lie, I fucking love this song. A friend of mine from Jeresy told me there actually are alot of fuckign shoe stores on route 22. I do not beleive her.)

Normally after making a mix I ask for suggestions, but I am not going to do that here. Why? Because if I hear one more terrible song about Jersey, I might kill myself. I was really shocked to see how many songs there are about the great Garden State. It may be a small place, but lots of people from there aperantly really like it. I cannot fathom this. I am assuming it has something to do with the drugs, or being brought up next to a power plant, or all the hairspray or the drugs. This maybe a stereotype, but i don't fucking care.

& because i know people are going to say shit: Springsteen isn’t on this mix because all of his songs are about Jersey & really I could have just made the mix solely of him. Timberwolves from New Jersey by Taking Back Sunday is not only not about Jeresy (or timer wolves), but it fucking sucks. So does that Coheed song. I don’t know why they are always suggested. Neither of those bands are even from New Jersey! I really wanted to put Saves the Day on here, but I felt like just mentioning the Turnpike wasn’t enough, they were still just whining about girls or whatever.

So this is my mix of the week. Please suggest me something to make for next week that isn't terrible.

xoxo

DO THE DEAD: The Ultimate Zombie Mix

So keeping with the Halloween theme for this month I decided to post one of my favorite mixes that I have ever made. It was probably the most difficult becuase its really hard to find a song about zombies that isn't terrible grindcore or some shitty emo tune whining about how we are all dead inside. I made this around the same time last year, but I have recently added a bunch of songs.
On an interesting (& slightly irrelevant) note, the art for this mix was actually drawn on an English Test in my senior year of high school. I failed it but my teacher really liked my work.

If You Shoot The Head You Kill The Ghoul - Jeffery Lewis
"Hideous hordes of crumbling undead men, are slughtering & eating the population. We just recived word from Washington DC, its every man or himself against the zombies”

OUCH - be your own PET
“They haunt the streets with their eyes full of hunger. Spreading disease and death to one another. There's no stopping til it gets too late. Zombie apocalypse will change us all now.”

The Living Dead - Phantom Planet
“It’s no use go run and hide, You can’t escape this sea of sunken eyes, You know, We got the look, We got the push, We got the pull, Now who do you think is gonna rise when hell is full?”

Nobody Likes You - Zombina & the Skeletones
“Nobody likes you when your dead, It just aint right. just cause i'm biting on your head, There's no need to be impolite. And if I still had eye's, then I would surely cry”

Night of the Living Dead - Misfits
“corpses come to life, armies of the dead surviving, armies of the hungry, ones only-ones, lonely-ones, ripped up like shredded-wheat only-ones”

Zombie Dance - The Cramps
“They do 'The Boogaloo' at the Zombie Hall, They write "BORN TO LOSE", On Zombie restroom wall, The kinda life they choose, Ain't life at all”

We're Comin' To Kill Ya - Zachariah And The Lobos Riders
“I like platelets on my plate, don’t mistake this just consentrate, as I fillet your brains, like salisbury steak. I’ll burp you up later, forgetting what I ate”
*so yea, this song could be more about cannibalism, but its on the dead & breakfast soundtrack so I figured it was about zombies

Killbot 2000 - Murder by Death
"Datura flakes off from your lips, you've lost the swagger in your hips, your eyes are turning blue to gray. Your skin feels soft and sagging down, your arms drag across the ground with each step you take"

Zombie - Screeching Weasel
“I am gonna have your head tonight, I want your brain! I'm a zombie now and I'm gonna get you baby. Gonna step on your head, gonna break your bones, Gonna rip your eyes out from their holes”

I Was A Teenage Zombie - The Fleshtones
“I went down the the soda shop. Man, you oughtta seen the traffic stop. Ain’t they ever seen the walking dead before? I’m just a kid, the zombie next door”

Zombies on the Airwaves of Paris - Snowman
“Moonlight on the streets of Paris, while the zombies eat your brains”

My New World - The Epoxies
I'm not afraid of the living dead, All you gotta do is shoot em in the head. They fall right down, and let's admit, They were the walking dead a long time ago”

They are Night Zombies!! They are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back From the Dead! Ahhhhhhhh! - Sufjan Stevens
“We are awaken with the ax, Night of the Living Dead at last, They have begun to shake the dirt, Wiping their shoulders from the earth”

Dawn of the Dead - Schoolyard Heroes
It's the dawn of the dead, I think you heard me right, Evil corpses rising form the grave. The dead will walk tonight, They're gonna want your bones, They're gonna want your skulls, They're gonna want everything you've got”

Astro Zombies (Misfits Cover) - My Chemical Romance
“With just a touch of my burning hand, I send my astro zombies to rape the land. Prime directive, exterminate, The whole human race”

Christmas Night Of The Living Dead - MxPx
“Christmas night of the living dead, my face is green and the snow is red (Whoa Whoa) Im breaking bones with my bare hands, theres hundreds of them closing in, Im running out of ammo now, I need to get the axe again to split some heads in two”

Re: Your Brains - Jonathan Coulton
Heya Tom, it's Bob, from the office down the hall. Good to see you buddy, how've you been? Thing have been okay for me except that I'm a zombie now. I really wish you'd let us in. I think I speak for all of us when I say I understand, Why you folks might hesitate to submit to our demand. But here's an FYI: you're all gonna die screaming”

Zombies Coming to Eat My Brains – The Dishwashers
“Zombies coming to eat my brains, eat my brains, eat my brains (incoherent lyrics then something screaming about a zombie attack)”

Zombie creeping flesh - Peter & the Test Tube Babies
“The dead have risen from the graves, movements slow, a vacant gaze. Living human flesh satisfies, no emotions showing in their eyes.”

Zombie Riot - Batmobile
“A zombie riot is coming an army of unhuman eyes, From every yard they're strolling with no less value to die”
